Fiction and Poetry
It is often thought that fiction books can be harder to market than non-fiction, especially for new authors. But there are many exceptions to that view. For example, Richard Paul Evans originally self-published the holiday story, "The Christmas Box." Within a few months, he sold thousands of copies in the Salt Lake City area alone. Because of the success of the self-published version, Simon & Schuster won the bid for the right to publish a hardcover edition. The book has now sold over 7 million copies worldwide.
While this is an exceptional example, it shows that a well-written fiction book can be very successful!
